Keywords in URL and SEO

September 1, 2011 Leave a comment

Having keywords in URL will increase a site’s and individual pages ranking, but also increase the number of clicks from web surfers using Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines.

The default WordPress installation will create URLs like “seo.com/?p=300”, which makes absolutely no sense, both to Search Engines bots and users. That’s why every SEO expert and webmaster uses the integrated permalinks feature, which makes the URLs look like this: “seo.com.com/search-engine-optimization”-keyword rich.

The Search Engine crawlers see “search”, “engine” and “optimization” as keywords, which increases that article’s chance of ranking higher for them, and people see and can immediately imagine what the article will contain, so they can decide whether to visit the page or not.

Search engine optimization is not rocket science; it’s about what will make a website’s different parameters aesthetically presentable to humans and search engines. Good idea, good story, great analysis, are all possible foundations of an seo friendly website. The url is the window of the website; make it presentable too.
